Purresident's Day

Today is a very important day a'cause we are celebrating the great purresidents that have led our nation. I have chosen to write a small essay on three of my favorite purresidents to honor them:

First, we have George Washington. I did some research on this bean and have found three very important things about him: "In three important ways, Washington helped shape the beginning of the United States. First, he commanded the Continental Army that won American independence from Britain in the Revolutionary War. Second, Washington served as president of the convention that wrote the United States Constitution. Third, he was elected the first president of the United States!" (You can read more about him from the article I found and quoted at Worldbook) George Washington am a very cool bean a'cause he's the first Purresident of CatUSA! When he started, there were only 11 States (one was Mew Jersey where I live!) and by the end of his purresidency, there were 16! Oh and he even slept in a house that's right up the street from where I live! Purretty cool and very brave bean if you ask me!

Next is Abraham Lincoln. Purresident Lincoln "was one of the truly great [beans] of all time. He led the United States during the American Civil War (1861-1865), which was the greatest crisis in U.S. history. Lincoln helped end slavery in the nation and helped keep the American Union from splitting apart during the war." (You can read more about him from the article I found and quoted at Worldbook) Boy. He's one smart bean. No wonder he's one of the most famous purresidents! He was a real good speaker too...one of his most famous speeches was called the Gettysburg Address. Now...you would think that everybean would like Purresident Lincoln with his big tall hat and pipe but no, John Wilkes Booth, a popular actor and known supporter of the Confederate states assassinated the purresident while he was enjoying a performance of "Our American Cousin" at the Ford Theatre! He was the first purresident to be assassinated. Very sad. Very sad indeed. That horrible bean, Booth, was found over a week later hiding in a tobacco shed where he refused to surrender and was shot himself. Shmaybe Booth should have stuck with the acting gig...

By far, my favorite purresident is Purresident Larry. Him am a real smart poodie and knows how to keep all of us catizens in order. With the help of his Vice-Purresident, Sammie and Sheriff Jinky, CatUSA will never suffer any kind of tragedies! Known for being a very handsome cat, Purresident Larry also is very intelligent. Him am a clever and wise poodie making him the purrfect choice to rule as our King! When the catizens get unruly, he knows just how to put them in their place. Purresident Larry recently said, "Just to show all the catizens that I'm still the boss, I bit Izzy on the tail, and then I went over and hissed and growled at Shadow. After that I bit KC on the butt... "(You can read more about him by going to his blog) Now that's power! Purresident Larry isn't all bite though. He is quite the epicurean. He dines on only the best figaro tuna and treats. With the help of his Bean Dad (who just had a purrthday), Purresident Larry keeps his blood sugar levels in check regularly. I'm glad to be working as "Wildlife Inspector" for such an amazing poodie and wish Purresident Larry good health and longevity! All Hail King Larry :)
